The new international middle class?

The new issue of Aesthetics & Protest has this closely argued but rewarding piece by Marc Leger - Welcome to the Cultural Goodwill Revolution: On Class Composition in the Age of Classless Struggle - Leger notes the importance of new French social theory - in the shape of Badiou etc - and the Italian autonomists on contemporary critical theory. In this context he states his objective in this article to be: "By crossing Pierre Bourdieu's work on culture and class distinction with Peter Bürger's sociological model of the "institution art," I hope to provide a working model with which to think about the contradictory situation in which today's international petty bourgeois class deliberates the possibility of enabling ever more authoritarian forms of state capitalism."
